Brighton’s most promising up and coming pop-punk band Crownhouse are set to release their latest single, ‘Careful’, on the 27th April 2018. The new single is the follow up release to their popular debut EP 3AM, which was released in May 2017. The song will be accompanied by a colourful and energetic new video.
‘Careful’ is an excitingly original song, yet the inspiration taken from similar alternative, pop-punk bands, such as You Me at Six and Taking Back Sunday, is definitely evident through the distinctive vocals and strong electric guitars. The song begins with a powerful electric guitar riff, before the whole band kicks into action, prompted by the drums. The lyrics are extraordinarily catchy and relatable too, as the band sing about the pains of growing up paired with the romanticising of the teenage years. Similarly, the middle-8 tells a cautionary tale and warn us to be “careful what you wish for”, this part of the song really lingers in your mind.
The entire band work really well together to create a dynamic, well rounded sound- a sound which I am sure will only continue to strengthen over time. It’s also refreshing to hear the Brighton 4-piece release something more upbeat than the darker sounds on their debut EP. It definitely simulates the band’s natural progression, which is already beginning to feel comfortable and established.

Overall, the single is incredibly catchy and promising. If this is just the start for Crownhouse then I can’t wait to hear what else they have to come. It’s a simple, easy to listen to pop-punk record which echoes with the inspiration of those who came before it. If you’re a fan of early Paramore records, classic pop-punk bands and alternative rock then ‘Careful’ is definitely for you.
