This post is for all my alternative milk-users. Whether you are lactose intolerant, vegan or just don't agree with the dairy industry, we've got a few recommendations of our top alternatives.
Chocolate Milk
My all-time favourite milk is KOKO Coconut chocolate milk which can be a little pricey for the mini cartons but for the normal-sized carton, it's a great value for a student budget. It's also just as great warm as it is cold.
However if coconut is not your persuasion, Oatly's chocolate oat drink which comes in a quirky-cool carton, suitable for vegans, vegetarians. It also comes in plain and organic flavours and is a great alternative for lactose free, nut-free and soya-free people with the same amount of flavour.
Soya Milk
Alpro soya is like the grandfather of alternative milk although the price can often run high the taste is all there, The organic option is sometimes more affordable yet there are also supermarket own-brand alternative which don't taste too dissimilar.
Nut Milk
Nut milk is more of an acquired taste with almond being the most popular (with brands like Almond Breeze) but it can also come in hazelnut, cashew, coconut and any other nut you can think of. (if you make it yourself) It's another great alternative to soya which sometimes gets a bad rep. Again, there's not much of a difference between the branded and supermarket own-branded version but I'd recommend nut milk own brands more than soya because sometimes soya own-brands curdle.
All in all, you just need to find which milk works for you so you don't just have to be drinking hormonal cow milk. At first, it will be weird and nothing like cow's milk but you do get used to it after a while.
What your favourite alternative milk?
