Under the brewing haze just beyond the moon, the start of Summer nights around the fire as people gather together to share a meal and listen to compelling poetry readings. All whilst life still goes on at Queen's Park: picnics hosting kids dinner times from local pizza stores, couples laying in the grass, friends sipping from ice-cold bottles.
Equivocally, Brighton's Summer time wouldn't be the same without these moments. Hosting the Storytelling Army for the 2nd year, nabokov theatre company invites people to share their stories with others as part of the Brighton Festival.
Headed up by artistic director Stef O'Driscoll, The Storytelling Army brought people together over a meal following the theme of Food, Roots and Social Responsibility. The poets, storytellers and musicians shone a light on their unique experiences within these themes delving further into food through travelling, understanding other cultures, climate change and what it's like to be human.
Not limited by age, cultural and social barriers, The Storytelling Army had ears and curious minds peering in beyond the borders of the Brighton Festival flags - continuing the legacy left by guest director Kate Tempest back in 2017 - when the project started.
If you can catch it next year or see other projects run by nabokov.
